2023年2月23日、カナダのトロント公共図書館（TPL）が、北米の図書館で検閲や異議申し立ての対象となった本を特集するコレクション“Book Sanctuary Collection”を設置したことを同館のTwitterアカウントで発表しました。
「読む自由週間」（Freedom to Read Week）に合わせて開始されたものです。コレクションは50冊で構成されており、各タイトルを紹介するウェブページも公開されています。
また、同館はウェブサイトにおいて、米・シカゴ公共図書館が検閲等の流れに対抗して2022年に立ち上げた「本の聖域」（Book Sanctuary）イニシアティブに参加したことを表明しており、100の分館やオンラインを含む同館のスペースを「本の聖域」と宣言し、すべてのストーリーやアイデアに安全な場所を提供するとしています。
