2023年2月21日、英国の主要大学で構成されるRussell Groupが、英・Jiscを通じたSpringer Nature社との交渉について、Springer Nature社からの提案を拒否し、交渉の継続を支持する声明を公開しました。同グループと、高等教育カレッジ連合GuildHE、英国の近代大学協会MillionPlus、N8 PVC-Rs、大学同盟University Allianceが署名しています。
声明の中では、Springer Nature社と合意するためには、コストの削減と抑制、英国の全ての研究をオープンアクセスで公開できる保障、コストに関する透明性の向上、およびSpringer Nature社のオープンリサーチへの移行が要件になる、と述べられています。
