The National Diet Library presents the results of a two year research project conducted during fiscal years 2024 and 2025 on libraries and library and information science in a report entitled The Actual State of Support and Collaborative Activities by Prefectural Libraries for Municipal Libraries in Japan.
Seeking to clarify the current state of cooperative activities undertaken by prefectural libraries for municipal libraries within their jurisdictions, we conducted a review of relevant literature, sent questionnaires to all 47 prefectural libraries nationwide, and held interviews at four prefectural libraries as well as conducted supplementary surveys at selected libraries based on the responses to our questionnaire.
