情報技術の活用を推進し高等教育の向上を目指している米国のNPO・EDUCAUSEの中で、応用研究を担当しているECAR（EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research）は2004年から毎年、大学の学部学生を対象とした情報技術に関する調査を行っています。この2008年版がこのほど公開されました。ちなみに、過去のものもウェブサイトで公開されています。
2008年版では、90の4年制大学、8の2年制カレッジの新入生・最上級生、あわせて27,317人に、情報機器の所有、情報技術の利用経験、情報行動、選好、スキル、SNSへの参加等についての質問紙調査を行っています。
