2021年4月16日、米国学校図書館員協会（AASL）が、ガイド“Developing Reflective Explorers and Innovators”を公表したと発表しています。学習者が効果的な探索者となるために必要なスキルを身に着けることを学校図書館員が支援する際に主に直面する課題を示すために作成されたものです。
同ガイドでは、学習者・学校図書館員・学校図書館のための包括的なシナリオと活動が、AASLの「学校図書館基準」における、思考（Think）・創造（Create）・共有（Share）・成長（Grow）という4つの学習領域（domains）ごとにまとめられており、それらのコンテンツは、学習者の好奇心・創造性・協調性・批判的思考を育てることを意図したものとなっています。
