2020年1月30日、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）の公共図書館分科会が、“IFLA/Systematic Public Library of the Year Award 2020”への応募の受付開始を発表しました。
受付期間は2月1日から4月15日までで、応募にはIFLAの会員である必要はなく、地方政府の新図書館の担当も応募が可能です。
創造的なITソリューションとオープンで機能的な建物を組み合わせ、デジタルの発展と地域の文化を考慮に入れた図書館を対象に贈られる賞で、2010年1月1日から12月31日までの間に建設されたか、図書館以外の建物を改修して設置されたものが対象です。
「環境や地域文化との相互作用」「建築の質」「柔軟性」「持続可能性」「学習空間」「デジタル化」の6点が評価基準としてあげられています。
受賞館は、8月15日から21日にアイルランド・ダブリンで開催されるIFLA年次大会で授与されます。
