2020年4月20日、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）の図書館建物および設備分科会 (Library Buildings and Equipments)が、2020年世界図書館情報会議（WLIC）・IFLA年次大会の中止をうけて、“Public Library of the Year Award 2020”も中止すると発表しました。
そのかわり、今年の応募資格者にも次年度の“Public Library of the Year Award 2021”の応募資格を与えるとしています。
