2016年3月8日、Ithaka S+Rが、報告書“A Day in the Life of a (Serious) Researcher: Envisioning the Future of the Research Library”を公開しました。
同報告書を執筆したコーネル大学図書館のチームは、研究者に、学術活動やレクリエーションかに関わらず一日の活動を記録してもらうとともに、彼らの活動で、如何に情報を発見し、使用し、共有したかをインタビューする“Day in the Life”という手法を用いて、教授から学部学生までのすべてのレベルの研究者の生活や情報行動を把握する調査をおこなったとのことです。
調査対象者の多くは、大学生や若手教員といった初期のキャリアの研究者で、今後数十年間においてより一般的になるであろう情報行動やトレンドを理解するために特別に焦点をあてたとのことです。
報告書では、収集された情報・分析手法・調査結果を叙述するとともに、結果を分析し、研究図書館が研究者の情報行動の変化に対応するための方法や新しい図書館像を提案しているとのことです。
