2024年3月14日、著者、出版、書籍販売、図書館を代表する五つの国際団体が、表現の自由等の尊重を求める共同声明を発表しました。
本や著者等を制限する取組が増加していることを受け、International Authors Forum（IAF）、PEN International、国際出版連合（IPA）、European and International Booksellers Federation（EIBF）、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）の5団体が共同で声明を発表したものです。
共同声明では、表現の自由、出版の自由、読書の自由について説明されており、政府及び他の全ての利害関係者に対し、これら三つの自由を法律上また実践上保障し、支持し、推進するよう要請しています。
