ウェブ上で個人の蔵書目録を作成し、他人と共有できるソーシャルネットワーキングサービス（SNS）“LibraryThing”の運営者が、Amazon.comの書誌データにつけられているタグとLibraryThingのものとを、ブログで比較しています。
この記事によると、LibraryThingのアクセス数はAmazon.comよりもずっと少ないのに、付与されているタグは10倍の1,300万件を超えています。またAmazon.comのタグには多く見られる商業用のタグ・無意味なタグといった「タグスパム」もほとんど見られないとのことです。
