2022年10月20日、学術コミュニケーションにおける公平性・包括性・多様性・アクセシビリティに取り組むCoalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communications（C4DISC）が、学術コミュニケーションにおける言葉・画像の包摂性に関するガイドラインを公開したと発表しました。
発表によると、今回公開されたガイドライン“Guidelines on Inclusive Language and Images in Scholarly Communication”は、全ての著者、編集者、査読者が包摂的で文化的配慮がなされた言葉や画像の使用を認識するための、国際的ツール、教育資源、アーカイブとなることを目的としています。
言葉については、年齢、犯罪・投獄、ジェンダー・ジェンダーアイデンティティ・性的志向、地政学、移民、人種・民族、宗教・無神論・精神性等に関して、望ましい表現や避けるべき言葉等がまとめられています。画像については、包摂的画像の概要、データ可視化、アクセシビリティについて求められる対応等がまとめられています。
