2014年9月、英国の医療関係の6機関が提携し、オープンアクセス助成を行うための基金“The Charity Open Access Fund（COAF）”が設立されました。参加機関は、Arthritis Research UK、Breast Cancer Campaign、the British Heart Foundation、Cancer Research UK、Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research、ウェルカム財団の6機関とのことです。
COAFは、2年間の試行として、英国の36の研究機関を対象にオープンアクセスの論文処理加工料（APC）の助成を行うとのことです。助成にあたっては、助成を受けた論文の最終版を著者に代わってPubMed Centralで無料で公開すること、また、CC-BYライセンスで公開することが求められているようです。
10月1日から申請が受け付けられているとのことです。
