2013年12月16日、アメリカ歴史家協会(the Organization of American Historians: OAH）が、博士論文のエンバーゴに関して声明を発表しています。ジョージア州アトランタで開催されていた会議での議論を踏まえたもので、同協会の理事会（Exective Board）は、著作者が自身の博士論文の刊行や流通の方法を決定する権利について、強くサポートする、との内容になっています。
