英国大学協会（Universities UK: UUK）が、研究評価にビブリオメトリックス（Bibliometrics、計量書誌学）的手法を用いるにはどのようなことを考慮する必要があるか、引用数や記事数を基礎としたビブリオメトリックスでどのような指標が明らかになるのか、について調査した報告書”The use of bibliometrics to measure research quality in UK higher education institutions”を公表しています。
英国では2008年に大学評価の枠組みRAE（Research Assessment Exercise）の見直しが予定されており、そのための予備的調査という位置づけになるようです。
