ドイツのミュンヘン大学と米国のアーカンソー大学リトルロック校が協同で、両校の研究者のオープンアクセスに対する意識調査を行い、その結果を発表しています。
調査対象は、情報システム、ドイツ文学、医学の3分野＋その他の分野の合計4つのカテゴリーの研究者で、688名が回答しています。オープンアクセスを「好ましい」「たいへん好ましい」と見なしている研究者が91％いたのに対し、オープンアクセス文献にアクセスしたことがある研究者はおよそ3分の2、自分の論文をオープンアクセスで提供したことがある研究者はおよそ3分の1と、意識と利用の乖離が見られたとのことです。
