2022年6月21日、英・Software Sustainability Institute（SSI）が、研究ソフトウェアのためのFAIR原則（FAIR Principles for Research Software：FAIR4RS Principles）のバージョン1.0の公開を発表しました。
発表によると、研究データ同盟（RDA）、研究ソフトウェア同盟（Research Software Alliance）、FORCE11らによるワーキンググループが策定したものであり、2年間にわたり500人以上が作業に参加しました。
拡張性、複合的な性質、継続的な進化、バージョン管理といったソフトウェアの特性を踏まえ、FAIR原則の内容の見直し・拡張を実施したと述べられています。また、実装のためのガイドラインや、対応事例等をまとめた実装支援のための資料も公開されています。
