2021年9月16日、デジタル資料の長期保存を目指す非営利団体Open Preservation Foundation（OPF）のArchives Interest Group（AIG）が、報告書“The Significant Properties of Spreadsheets”の公開を発表しました。
2016年に設立されたAIGは、スプレッドシートの長期保存を実現するため、マイグレーション時に考慮すべき重要特性（Significant Properties）の調査に取り組んできました。今回公開された“The Significant Properties of Spreadsheets”は同調査の最終報告書と位置付けられています。
発表では、2019年9月にオランダ・アムステルダムで開催された「第16回電子情報保存に関する国際会議」（iPRES2019）でも同調査に関するポスター発表を行い、“The Best Poster Audience Award”を受賞したことにも言及しています。
