2019年12月17日、ドイツ図書館協会（DBV）は、2020年10月24日のドイツの「図書館の日（Tag der Bibliotheken）」にドイツテレコム財団（Deutsche Telekom Stiftung）と共同して、21回目となる“Bibliothek des Jahres”の授与と、初めての試みとなる小規模自治体・地域の図書館向けの“Bibliothek des Jahres in kleinen Kommunen und Regionen”の授与を実施することを発表しました。
“Bibliothek des Jahres（Library of the Year）”は、分野や規模を問わず、デジタルサービスを活用した模範的で革新的な図書館の取り組みに対して、賞金2万ユーロとともに授与されます。
“Bibliothek des Jahres in kleinen Kommunen und Regionen”は2020年に初めて創設され、住民5万人以下の小規模自治体・地域の図書館の模範的で革新的な取り組みに対して、賞金7,000ユーロとともに授与されます。
“Bibliothek des Jahres”・“Bibliothek des Jahres in kleinen Kommunen und Regionen”ともに、2020年3月31日まで申し込みが受け付けられています。
