2017年8月3日、米国図書館協会（ALA）は、The American Indian Library Association、Asian Pacific American Librarians Association、Chinese American Librarians Association、REFORMA、Joint Council of Librarians of Colorといった提携組織と共に、公正性・多様性・包摂性に関する共同声明を発表しました。
また、ALAの「図書館の権利宣言」（Library Bill of Rights）の解説として、“Equity, Diversity, Inclusion”が、7月27日の理事会にて承認されています。
