2016年4月11日、米国図書館協会（ALA）が、2015年に最も批判を受けた図書トップ10（Top ten frequently challenged books）を発表しています。
このランキングにランクインしている他の図書は、性的、暴力的な内容を含むことを理由にしたものが多くなっていますが、今回発表された2015年の第6位については、『聖書』（‘The Holy Bible’）がランクインしており、その理由は、宗教的観点、となっています。
このランキングは、図書館または学校に、本の内容や妥当性などを理由に除架するような要求が、正式に書面で提出された資料をランク付けしたものであり、報道では、ALA（米国図書館協会）の知的自由部（Office for Intellectual Freedom）のラ・ルー（James La Rue）氏のコメントが紹介されており、このランキングによって聖書を所蔵することに異を唱えるものではなく、むしろ様々な宗教に関する資料を揃えることが望ましいとしています。
