2026年5月13日、欧州の6団体が、オープンサイエンスの推進に向けた共同声明を発表しました。
共同声明には、欧州各国のアカデミーから成る組織All European Academies（ALLEA）、開発途上国において図書館を通じた情報へのアクセス向上に取り組む非営利団体Electronic Information for Libraries（EIFL）、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）、欧州研究図書館協会（LIBER）、欧州における人文・社会科学分野のオープンな学術コミュニケーション発展のための研究基盤OPERAS、SPARC Europeが名を連ねています。
欧州委員会（EC）が2026年中の採択を目指している欧州研究領域（European Research Area：ERA）法に関する協議を踏まえ、オープンサイエンスの現状について考察がなされており、主要な障壁のうち特に協調的なアプローチが必要とされる7点について概説されています。
