2025年11月20日、米国図書館協会（ALA）は、教育省（Department of Education）の解体に向けた新たな措置が発表されたことに対し、声明を発表しました。
11月18日、教育省のウェブサイトにおいて、これまで同省が担当してきた学校図書館や学術図書館を支援する主要プログラムが、他の連邦機関に移管されることが発表されたことを受けたものです。移管されるプログラムには、識字能力向上のためのプログラム“Innovative Approaches to Literacy”等も含まれるとあります。
ALAは、学校図書館や学術図書館、図書館職員、教育省職員と連帯し、教育分野のパートナーと共に、学生や教育者の権利、そして学校図書館や学術図書館に提供されるわずかな連邦政府の支援を守るために尽力するとしています。
