2025年10月7日、図書館や学術機関等の発展と支援に従事する米国の非営利組織EveryLibrary Instituteは、“Declaration to Defend Research Against U.S. Government Censorship”（米国政府の検閲から研究を守るための宣言）に署名したことを発表しました。
ウェブサイト「#DefendResearch」に掲載されている同宣言は、米国政府による新たな検閲行為に懸念を抱く学術界及び学術コミュニケーション分野の関係者グループによって作成されたもので、学術コミュニケーションのエコシステムに関わる人や団体に対し、宣言への署名に加え、検閲への抵抗事例に対する支援などの行動を呼びかけています。
