Library & Information Science Research誌の47巻2号に、アイルランドの刑務所図書館おけるサービスの効果的な調査のための方法論的枠組みの構築に関する記事“Setting out a methodological framework for undertaking effective reviews of national prison library services: Design of an inclusive methodology for the Irish Prison Library Review”が掲載されています。著者は、アイルランド・アルスター大学のJessica Bates氏等です。
記事では、地方自治管理庁（Local Government Management Agency：LGMA）の委託を受けて著者らが行った調査の概要について述べられています。アイルランドの刑務所図書館の概要を紹介しつつ、刑務所図書館で提供されているサービスの特定、拘留中の人のニーズの把握等に関する調査方法及びその結果が報告されています。アイルランドの刑務所図書館サービスの特徴として、全国的に一貫性がなく、サービスの内容も刑務所ごとに異なっているとあります。
また、調査結果を踏まえ、今後の刑務所図書館サービスの指針や枠組み作りに向けた「アイルランドにおける刑務所図書館規定の原則」（Principles for Prison Library Provision in Ireland）が著者ら調査チームにより策定されたことなどが紹介されています。
