ニューヨーク州立大学（SUNY: The State University of New York）の図書館が進めているOpen SUNY Textbooksについて、Democrat and Chronicle.comに、現況を伝える記事（“SUNY seeks writers for more online textbooks”、2013年11月28日付け）が掲載されています。Open SUNY Textbooksは、SUNYのミルン図書館等が実施しているもので、オープンアクセスの教科書を出版するプロジェクトです。
記事では、第一段階として実施されている15冊のうち2冊が2013年10月に同プロジェクトにカタログに掲載され、残りは編集等の段階にあるようです。これは期待されていたよりも遅れているようですが、プロジェクトは第二段階に進み、著者募集を行うとの情報も掲載されています。
また、オンラインの教科書出版に関して、「大学図書館は、学術コミュニケーションにおけるその役割を見直すことによりこの課題に取組み、最近では、図書館出版サービスを開発している」とのCyril Oberlander氏（ミルン図書館長、このプロジェクトのコーディネータ）のコメントが掲載されています。
