2013年11月13日、スミソニアン博物館が、同館の収蔵品の3Dのデジタルデータを提供するサイトを公開しました。また3Dデータを利用するためのソフトウェア“Smithsonian X 3D Explorer”も開発したとのことです。これは、3D画像を回転したり、計測したり、色調等を調整したりすることができるものです。
なお、3Dデータは、ログインするとダウンロードもできる（個人利用、非営利）ようです。
