2013年4月30日、欧州原子核研究機構(CERN)がWorld Wide Web（WWW）の使用料無料での公開宣言20周年を記念して、最初のウェブサイトを再現し、ウェブの誕生にかかわるデジタル資産を保全するプロジェクトを開始しました。
1989年、CERNに所属していた物理学者Tim Berners-Lee氏がWWWを考案し、1993年4月30日にCERNはWWWを全ての人に無償で利用可能にすることを発表したとのことです。
