2024年5月24日付けで、欧州国立図書館長会議（CENL）のウェブサイトに、ベルギー王立図書館（KBR）が同国の新聞のデジタル化を推進する計画を発表したことに関する記事が掲載されています。
KBRが運営する“BelgicaPress”ポータルには、同館が所蔵する主に1814年から1950年までのベルギーの新聞、約140タイトルが収録されており、OCR処理により395万ページ分の全文検索や1918年までに出版されたタイトル等のリモートアクセスが可能です。
記事によると、同館は2027年までに同国の日刊紙400万ページ以上をデジタル化し、“BelgicaPress”上での提供ページ数を倍増させ、1951年から1989年までに発行された新聞まで収録対象を拡大する計画であるとあります。
