2012年9月26日から28日にかけて、カナダのバンクーバーで開催されたユネスコの「世界の記憶」プログラム20周年記念の国際会議“Memory of the World in the Digital Age”において、デジタル記録への将来世代のアクセスを保証するため、アナログ資料のデジタル化とその長期保存について、ユネスコ・プログラム参加国・専門団体・産業界への提言をまとめた“UNESCO/UBC Vancouver Declaration”が採択されました。現在このバンクーバー宣言はドラフト版として公開され、10月19日までコメントや意見が広く求められており、その後最終版としてまとめられることになっています。
