2012年6月28日に、英国図書館（BL）とJISCが、1982年から1994年の間に生まれた「Y世代」（Generation Y）の博士課程の学生17,000人の研究行動を調査し、その結果をまとめたレポート“Researchers of Tomorrow”を公開しました。
この調査は2009年に両機関共同で始められたもので、今回公開されたレポートがその3年目の報告にあたります。調査結果では、博士課程の学生はオープンアクセスに対する理解が乏しく、研究成果をオープン化することに対してポジティブな印象をもっていないこと、研究分野を問わず博士課程の学生は、一次資料（文書資料や大規模なデータセット等）から、二次的な研究リソース（雑誌論文、図書等）への依存度を高めていること等が明らかとなったとしています。
