2023年3月3日、国際図書館連盟（IFLA）が、レポート“Creating and Maintaining a Safer Online World for Children and Young Adults in Libraries: A Report on the 2021 Safer Internet Day Baseline Survey for the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)”の公開を発表しました。
IFLAの児童・ヤングアダルト図書館分科会によるレポートであり、図書館における子ども・ヤングアダルト向けの安全なインターネット環境に関する取り組みについての調査の結果がまとめられています。同調査は、2021年の“Safer Internet Day”である2021年2月9日から実施され、世界各国の子ども・ヤングアダルト関連の図書館員から482件の回答が寄せられたとあります。
主な結果として、多くの図書館が、子どもとヤングアダルトへの安全なインターネットの使用方法に関する教育を様々な手法で実施していることが明らかになったこと等を挙げています。また、意思決定者へのメッセージとして、子どもやヤングアダルトに介入する図書館員には継続的な専門性開発や研修の機会が必要であることを述べています。
