米国の民主・共和両党の上院議員1名ずつが、貧困地域の公共図書館・学校図書館の司書になる／なっている図書館情報学修士課程修了の学生の奨学金返還を免除するための法案“Librarian Incentive to Boost Recruitment and Retention in Areas of Need Act（通称Librarian Act）”の法制化を試みています。米国図書館協会（ALA）も、地元の上院議員（特に共和党所属議員）に対し、この法制化への賛成を求めるアドヴォカシーを行うよう、会員に呼びかけています。
