2021年5月14日、米国の大学・研究図書館協会（ACRL）は、学術図書館員の地位に関する基準の改訂が理事会によって4月に承認された発表しています。
対象となったのは以下の3つの基準で、改訂版は、教員の地位の有無にかかわらず、全ての学術図書館員の任命・昇進・テニュアの決定において、現在の実務にそったものとなっています。
