2019年9月30日、米・Ithaka S+Rは、イシューブリーフ“Student Needs Are Academic Needs：Community College Libraries and Academic Support for Student Success”を公開しました。
米国のコミュニティカレッジに通う学生の目標、課題、ニーズを学生の観点から調査し、効果的な支援方法を探るプロジェクト“Community College Libraries and Academic Support for Student Success”（CCLASSS）の報告書です。なお、CCLASSS については、2018年8月にもイシューブリーフ“Amplifying Student Voices: The Community College Libraries and Academic Support for Student Success Project”が公開されています。
今回の報告書では、2018年秋に、米・Northern Virginia Community Collegeほか6つのコミュニティカレッジの学生計10,844人を調査した結果をまとめており、要点として、学生は個人的、職業的、学問的責任のバランスを取ることにしばしば苦労していること、育児中の学生、特に女子学生はより手厚い育児支援を求めていること、WifiホットスポットやノートPC等への長期アクセスの提供などテクノロジー面での一層の充実を求めていること等が紹介されています。
