2018年2月28日、米国国立医学図書館（NLM）が、戦略計画2017-2027“A Platform for Biomedical Discovery and Data-Powered Health”を公開しました。
「データ駆動型研究のためのツールを提供することで保健衛生の発展を加速する」（Accelerate discovery and advance health by providing the tools for data-driven research）、「普及や関与の程度を強化することでより多くの人々に情報を行き届かせる」（Reach more people in more ways through enhanced dissemination and engagement pathways）、「データ駆動型研究や保健衛生のための人材を育成する」（Build a workforce for data-driven research and health）という3つの目標を掲げています。
