2017年10月24日に、ドイツ図書館協会（Deutschen Bibliotheksverbandes：DBV）とドイツテレコム財団（Deutsche Telekom Stiftung）から、ライプツィヒ大学図書館（Universitätsbibliothek Leipzig）に対し、第18回目となる“Bibliothek des Jahres（Library of the Year）”が授与されました。
同館のオープンアクセス化の支援や、オープンソースを用いたシステム開発、IT部門をデジタルサービス部門に改組するなどの取組みが評価されたとのことです。
