2016年8月17日、デンマークのAgency for Culture and Palacesが、“Public Library of the Year Award 2016”の受賞館を発表しました。
今年の受賞館は、デンマークのDOKK1で、あらゆる年齢層、社会階層に対して開かれた図書館であること、機能的かつ美しいデザイン、という2点が受賞理由で、図書館、建築双方の専門家が選出に当たりました。
DOKK1は、ユトランド半島東岸にあるオーフスのウォーターフロントに立地する、シュミット・ハマー・ラッセン建築事務所（Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects）によって設計された図書館です。
なお、この受賞は第82回世界図書館情報会議（WLIC）・国際図書館連盟（IFLA）年次大会内でも発表されました。
