2016年1月20日、figshareが、研究データの保存、所有、管理のため、デジタル保存ネットワーク（Digital Preservation Network：DPN）に参加することが発表されました。研究データのリポジトリとしては初の参加とのことです。
figshare上で公開された研究データはDPNにデポジットされ、長期間にわたるアクセスが保証されるとのことです。DPNへのコンテンツの追加は、DPNと米国の非営利団体DuraSpaceそしてカリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校のリポジトリChronopolisによって開発されたサービスDuraCloud Vaultを使用して行われるようです。
