記事によると、OJCはコミュニティ主導による、公平かつ持続可能な学術出版モデルの実現を目的として活動する組織で、アイオワ州立大学、プリンストン大学、エディンバラ大学、ハーバード大学、スコットランド国立図書館等の図書館員や、Open Library of Humanities（OLH）、LSE Press、UCL Press、ミシガン大学出版局等の大学に拠点に置く出版者が参加しているとあります。
今後の活動として、2026年1月に人文・社会科学分野のダイヤモンドオープンアクセス（OA）ジャーナル数百誌から成るコレクションを立ち上げる予定であること等が述べられています。
