英国図書館（BL）内のFolio Society Galleryで、2013年10月4日から2014年1月26日まで、20世紀の英国の児童書の挿絵をテーマにした展示”Picture This: Children’s Illustrated Classics”が開催されます。
Quentin Blake、Michael Foreman、Peggy Fortnum、Lauren Childなどの美しい初版本や原画が展示されるとのことです。とりあげるのは、英国で最も愛された古典的作品とされる次の10作品です。

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory （邦題：『チャーリーとチョコレート工場』）
The Wind in the Willows （邦題：『たのしい川べ』他）

The Hobbit （邦題：『ホビット』）
The Borrowers （邦題：『床下の小人たち』）
The Secret Garden （邦題：『秘密の花園』）
The Railway Children（邦題：『鉄道きょうだい』）
展示された作品の多くを出版しているFolio Societyは、1947年に創設され、60年以上にわたって、上質な装丁の本をリーズナブルに提供することを目的としてきた出版社とのことです。
