大手出版社Penguinグループが、2012年2月10日で米国の大手電子書籍ベンダーOverDrive社との契約を終了し、今後は同社への電子書籍及びオーディオブックの提供を停止すると報じられています。Penguinグループは、OverDrive社がAmazon社のKindleと連携したサービスを開始したことをきっかけとして、2011年11月に同社への新規タイトルの供給を中断しており、それに続く対応となります。今回の契約終了に対して、米国図書館協会（ALA）は2012年2月10日付けで声明を発表し、Penguinグループが再び図書館へ電子書籍を提供できるような解決策を模索してくれることを期待している等としています。
