スコットランド国立図書館は、山／登山及び極（北極・南極）に関するコレクションを構築していますが、このほど3月6日のWorld Book Dayにちなみ、同コレクションの中から世界最大の刊行本である“Bhutan: a visual odyssey across the last Himalayan kingdom”を展示すると発表しました。
同書は、ブータンの写真などを含むもので、マサチューセッツ工科大学から2004年に出版されました。開いたときのサイズは5×7フィート（約1.52×2.13メートル）、重さは60キロ、サッカー場より長い紙と1ガロンものインクを使って24時間印刷してできあがるというものです。今回の展示期間は1週間ですが、同館は将来、もっと長い期間展示したいと考えているようです。
