米国図書館協会（ALA）傘下の児童サービス委員会（ALSC）や新聞協会、PTAなどが主導する読書イベント“Drop Everything and Read Day（D.E.A.R. Day）”が、米国の人気児童文学作家・クリアリー（Beverly Cleary）の誕生日にちなむ4月12日に行われました。Googleの図書館員向けブログでも、いくつかの図書館のイベントが紹介されています。ちなみにシンガポール図書館委員会も、同名のイベントを2006年11月〜に行っています。
