米国議会図書館（LC）の米国議会図書館盲人・身体障害者全国図書館サービス（The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped:NLS)が、点訳者の研修・認定の業務を、全米視覚障害者連合（the National Federation of the Blind：NFB）に委託することを発表しています。ただしNLSは、認定の権限を保持し、業務の監督は継続して行うとのことです。
NLSでは、1943年から研修コースを提供開始しており、年間200人程度の点訳者を認定してきました。現在移管作業を進めており、委託は2007年から始まるとのことです。
