2022年9月30日、米国のバイデン大統領が、芸術・人文学・博物館・図書館サービスの促進に関する大統領令を発表しました。
大統領令の中で、芸術・人文学・博物館・図書館サービスは国のウェルビーイング、健康、活力、民主主義にとって欠かせないものであるとしています。連邦政府はそれらへの支援を通して、国の民主主義、市民参加、公共サービス、社会的結束、公平性、アクセシビリティの増進に努めること等が述べられています。
その他、米国博物館・図書館サービス機構（IMLS）内に再設置する委員会“President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities”の体制や運営、政府の関連機関等について記載されています。また、同日付で2022年10月を、米国のアーティスト、学者、クリエーターを称える“National Arts And Humanities Month”とする宣言が公開されています。
10月3日に、米国図書館協会（ALA）とIMLSが同委員会の再設置に関するお知らせを掲載し、歓迎の意を表明しています。IMLSの記事によると、同委員会は、1982年にレーガン大統領により最初に設置されました。
