2017年2月2日、米国図書館協会（ALA）は声明を発表し、全米人文科学基金（National Endowment for the Humanities：NEH)と国立芸術基金（National Endowment for the Arts：NEA）を全面的に支援することを表明しました。
声明では、NEHとNEAが米国の文化遺産に対して行ってきた貢献や、NEHの助成が図書館に対して果たした貢献を評価しています。
1月19日には、米国のトランプ新政権がNEHとNEAへの支出を全面的に削減することを計画していることが報道されています。
