2016年1月5日、ニュージーランド国立図書館は、デジタル化されたニュージーランドの新聞・定期刊行物を閲覧できるウェブサイト“Papers Past”に、同国の南島とマオリ語の新聞を追加しました。
これにより、1839年から1948年までの新聞130タイトル、61万6,879号、406万5,256ページの5,047万4,317件の記事が含まれることになったとのことです。
今回の追加公開作業は、Central Lakes Trust、オタゴ大学ホッケンコレクション、Friends of the Hocken Collections、クライストチャーチ市立図書館、ワイカト大学コンピュータサイエンス学部との連携で行われたとのことです。
