2015年6月8日、米連邦政府の情報政策責任者（Federal Chief Information Officer: Federal CIO）であるTony Scott氏が、すべての連邦政府のWebサイト・Webサービスに対し”HTTPS-Only Standard”に従うことを求める覚書に署名したことが発表されました。
この覚書はHTTPS（Hyper Transfer Protocol Secure）の利用によりプライバシーと通信の秘密を守ることを目的とするものです。連邦政府各機関は2016年12月31日までに、すべてのWebサイト等をHTTPSにより通信を行うものにする必要があります。
