2015年3月23日、オバマ大統領が米国におけるブロードバンドの配備を広げる“Broadband Opportunity Council”を設立する覚書を発表しました。Broadband Opportunity Councilは25の政府機関等を含む評議会で、ブロードバンドへの投資を求めるコミュニティの要求に対して、政府がより良い支援を行う方法の把握や、ブロードバンド配備の障壁の確認、ブロードバンドの配備等を支援する既存プログラムの調査と報告、それらの障壁の除去や既存プログラムの再整備のために必要なアクション等を行うとのことです。また、150日以内に、各政府機関が目標のために行った規制措置や予算案等の措置について、大統領に報告する予定とのことです。
