2026年2月12日、英・ケンブリッジ大学図書館が、芸術、人文科学、社会科学におけるオープンネスに関する報告書“Openness in the arts, humanities and social sciences: Documenting open research practices beyond STEM”が刊行されたことを発表しました。
同館が主導する3年間のプロジェクトMaterialising Open Research Practices in the Humanities and Social Sciences（MORPHSS）の一環として作成された報告書です。
「オープンサイエンス」の概念的枠組みは、主として科学・技術・工学・数学（STEM）分野における定量的研究に合わせて作られているという批判がなされてきたとしています。その上で、芸術、人文科学、社会科学におけるオープンネスはSTEM分野と同様に重要であるものの、既存の枠組みに当てはまらず適切な評価を得られない点を懸念し、より広範な研究分野の状況を反映することの重要性を述べています。
